Baptist Care (South Australia) and MIFSA began this Peer Work Project in 2005. The project aims to support peer workers and the organisations that employ peer workers. The focus of the project is to:
- Support organisations in the recruitment, organisational preparation, training and support of peer workers.
- Support peer workers by offering training, assistance in finding a suitable peer work position and workplace support.
Brook RED are a peer-managed and operated community mental health organisation. This means that everyone who works at Brook RED identifies as having a living-experience of recovery and that we use the unique perspectives and knowledge gained from this experience in all of our work.
Inside out and associates is a Sydney-based organisation committed to providing opportunities to better understand the experience of extreme states and of mental distress, and what this means for people experiencing distress as well as family, community and service system responses to supporting people through these experiences. Inside out provides training, events and resources for anyone interested in mental health and recovery, regardless of background, training and experience.
ConnectGroups is the peak body for Self Help and Support Groups in Western Australia. Since 1983, they have provided practical assistance to both new and established groups to support their effective management and role in the community. ConnectGroups aims to help people help each other by providing Self Help and Support Groups with links to community networks and information, assistance with group development and management, support with community resources and services, and skills training.
ConnectGroups promotes the philosophy and practice of peer support throughout Western Australia. Fostering empowerment among Self Help and Support Groups allows people dealing with stressful life problems and situations to share their experiences and to offer emotional and practical support to one another.
